These two quilts are Sandy's.  They were block of the month quilts and Sandy did two at the same time!!  Way to go!  Sandy quilted each block with different decorative stitches (that was part of the class...learning how to use your sewing machine stitches), with the batting all ready on the back....the borders and sashing's did not have batting, so I quilted it, like I would any quilt.  I didn't have to do very much quilting in the blocks and I like how they puffed up after quilting around all the flowers.. I also tried really hard to keep my quilting simpler...to keep down the hours!  I think I did pretty good!  As you can see a lot of the borders do not have quilting inside....I did stitch in the ditch for all seams though,  It bugs me to have seam pop up....although I like seams popping up sometimes!  Okay...I'm rambling...
About 6 hours per quilt and one thread color through out.  The piano key border was easy because I did a light squiggly line instead of using a ruler to make perfect straight lines....
and when stitching in the ditch I slowed my speed up a bit and did not use the ruler very much for that either...just tried to stay in the ditch freehand.

OK...I think that's it!  Sandy will be here any minute to pick them up!
Hope she likes them!

  1. Wow, these are really neat. I love the feather swirl pattern you did on the first quilt on the outer border. Really whimisical and fun. The straight line quilting on the second one is really cool too! Love them both. Thanks for sharing, I'm sure your customer is going to love these. She did an excellent job piecing them too.

  8. I am starting this same quilt with the BOM club at the local sewing shop! I am so excited about it! Seeing your finished quilts has inspired me to go monochromatic with mine too! I'm wavering between yellow/gold and green/lime. I'm off to the fabric shop this morning to find something perfect! thank you for posting these pictures... I found your blog through pinterest when I searched BOM

    1. Hi Eleanor--my local sewing store is currently offering classes for Stitcher's Garden. I know that you can buy the patterns from the store...but it is pricey! But if you're interested, here's their website: http://willetts-save.com/ The instructor's name is CarolAnn.
